AMAC Chairman Pledges Continued Support for Women in Governance
Abuja, Nigeria – The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting and sustaining the participation of women in governance.
Maikalangu made this pledge in a statement issued in Abuja to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day. He emphasized the indispensable role women play in governance and decision-making processes, stressing that his administration will continue to provide opportunities that encourage female participation in leadership roles.
“This administration recognizes the immense contributions of women to the development of our society. We are committed to ensuring that women have a voice in governance and are provided with equal opportunities to lead and contribute meaningfully to nation-building,” Maikalangu stated.
He further highlighted various initiatives his government has implemented to empower women within AMAC, including economic support programs, leadership training, and educational empowerment schemes.
“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our dedication to creating an inclusive society where women are given the platform to thrive and impact positively on governance,” he added.
International Women’s Day is observed globally on March 8 every year to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women while also advocating gender equality.
Maikalangu urged stakeholders, community leaders, and citizens to support policies that promote gender inclusion and break barriers limiting women’s advancement in politics and governance.
