The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has called on Muslims across the country to use the Ramadan fasting period to pray to Allah (SWT) for the peaceful coexistence of the nation while also opening their hearts and minds to the teachings of Islamic scholars during the holy month.
In a statement on Saturday, issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike emphasized the importance of prayers during Ramadan, particularly for those in the FCT.
He said, “Fasting, as one of the five pillars of Islam, should not be merely a period of abstaining from food and drink; it should also be a time for fervent prayers for the nation.
It is my plea to our Muslim brothers and sisters to open their hearts and minds to the Tafsir of the Holy Month of Ramadan and allow themselves to be guided by its teachings.”
The Minister congratulated Muslim faithful on witnessing the beginning of the 30-day fasting period and prayed for them to successfully complete the holy month.
He added, “I wish all Muslim faithful a Ramadan filled with joy and togetherness. May your ibadah be accepted by Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala). May this holy month bring us peace, prosperity, and endless blessings.
“Ramadan Mubarak.”
