
FCTA Strengthens Cancer Fight with Inclusive Healthcare Initiatives
The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to ensuring no one is left behind in the fight against cancer.
Speaking at an event organized by the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT) in Abuja to mark World Cancer Day 2025, Mahmoud emphasized the need for collective action and strategic partnerships to enhance cancer awareness, prevention, and treatment.
She highlighted the FCT Administration’s investment in healthcare infrastructure and efforts to strengthen the system to provide residents with better access to quality cancer care. She also commended NICRAT for its dedication to advancing cancer research and awareness in Nigeria.
NICRAT’s Director-General, Prof. Usman Aliyu, stressed the importance of collaboration in tackling cancer, aligning with the 2025 theme, “United by Unique.” He noted that NICRAT continues to engage with local and international partners to train healthcare professionals, promote research, and implement effective cancer prevention strategies.
The institute also pledged its commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the health sector, particularly in cancer care.
