FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is not about party affiliation, but it is about changing the lives of Abuja residents and other Nigerians.

This, Wike said is what the FCT Administration under his watch  doing in the territory, even as he explained that party is a vehicle that conveys you, when you get to where you are heading to, you come down.

He spoke yesterday while commissioning the construction of asphalt carriageway 5km road from garage junction to LEA Secretariat, in Kuje.

According to him, the Tinubu’s government understands the plight of the people, as well as communicates with the people.

In his words: “ Has any government before come to speak with you? Have you sat down before with any minister to discuss? So, it is only in this administration of the President Tinubu that you can have the opportunity that government can sit down with you and ask you questions, and say what do you want, and you say you want this, and government goes ahead to do it.

So, the Renewed Hope Agenda is a reality, is it not correct? So, I can assure you that with your continuous support, you will get more things in Kuje.

“By the grace of God, we have a president who said, don’t lose hope, I’m going to bring back hope to you. Mr. President directed, whatever needs to be done, must be done.

“Today, as we drove coming here, you can see that very soon, you don’t need to leave Kuje to go to Federal Capital City (FCC) to live.

“Let me tell you that Mr. President has approved again that we must have to continue Kuje to Pegi. Not only that, as the chairman knew, when he said we should continue from where the road stop to Kwaku. By the Grace of God, when we are presenting our statutory budget for the national Assembly, we will include it.

“Sometimes last year, we went to China, we signed a memorandum of understanding with a company called, CGC, to provide water to the satellite towns, and one of the area councils is Kuje Area Council. So in this years budget, Mr. President has provided the sum of 50 billion Naira to provide water to the satellite towns, which Kuje, would be a beneficiary.

Furthermore, the minister assured the people that by the time that work on Kuje to Gwagwalada is finished, they will have no business going to Gwagwalada through that Airport area, just within 20 minutes.

“The other day we were at Kwali, when the Chairman of the council requested for a bridge that will link them to Kuje, which we have approved. So, you will see that you will be linked up with other area councils. And that is what we are talking about development.

“There is no magic, there is nothing difficult about development. When we have a government that has the interest of the people, development will come. And that is what President Tinubu is doing, particularly using FCT as a case in point that, if we can bring development to these areas, we can also bring development to other areas”, he stressed.

He continued: “By May, when Mr. President will have clocked two years in office, we are going to show the world what we have also done, what Mr. President has done for FCT as he clocks two years in office.

“So, we are ready to satisfy you, to let you know that we owe you that duty, to explain to you, money being raised, what we are using it for. It’s for the people of FCT, for the satellite towns.

“We will develop satellite towns to the point that, you will no longer be interested to leave your communities to come to the city to live.”

Earlier, Kuje Chairman of the council, Mr Abdullahi Sabo, commended Wike for investing huge resources for the development of area councils.

Sabo said that Wike’s dream of transforming satellite towns in FCT was becoming a reality, adding that Kuje was wearing a new look following the Minister’s intervention.

He thanked the Minister for extending the contract for the dualisation of Kuje to Gwagwalada Road.

He appealed for the extension of the ongoing construction of Airport – Kuje Road, from Kuje to Kwaku, covering 27 kilometres.

He noted that the request was necessary due to the importance of the road, to connect more than 100 villages and communities to Abuja city, via Kuje.

“The road, if constructed, will address the challenge of insecurity in that axis, improve agricultural production, transportation of agricultural produce to urban centres and reduce rural urban migration.

“As area council, we have one bush clearance, constructed culvert and graded the road while construction of three bridges is ongoing across three major rivers along the road”, he said.

The chairman also appealed to the Minister to connect Kuje to the Lower Usuma Dam water for the residents to enjoy clean water.

According to him, since the creation of Kuje Area Council, the residents rely heavily on boreholes for clean water.
