The Federal Capital Territory Administration [FCTA] will put measures on ground to harness the tourism potential abound in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Accordingly, the Administration will also continue to support, encourage and advance the cause of tourism development in the Territory to make the hub and highest revenue generating base.
The Mandate Secretary, FCT Social Development Secretariat, Ibrahim Aminu, gave this assurance, while receiving Ambassador Phil Roberts, (leader of the FCT Tourism Volunteer Network) that embarked on a one-month heroic tourism trek across the Niger from 20th May, 2024 to 21st June, 2024, in his office.
His words: “We are gathered to honor a bold adventurer, a pioneer who has taken on the extra ordinary challenge of a Solo trek across the Niger alongside his support team.”
“The journey is not just a physical endeavor but a profound exploration of culture, history and human spirit; a deliberate mission to showcase the tourism investments potentials of not only the FCT but those of other states along the trail of the trek,” he added.
The Mandate Secretary, who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Youth Department, Amb. Asabe Umar, commended the courageous trekker, who started the journey from the Social Development Secretariat exactly a month ago with the collaboration of the Tourism Department of the SDS.
According to him, “Beyond resilience and passion for adventure, your action is a testament to the spirit of exploration and the boundless curiosity that drives us to discover the World we live in, in relation to ourselves”.
Continuing, Aminu said “we are inspired by your bravery and your willingness to embrace the unknown, we celebrate your spirit of adventure and your commitment to showcasing the wonders of the FCT and across the Niger”.
Responding, Ambassador Phil Roberts, admitted how incredible the journey was, amidst the mammoth of challenges.
To fellow Nigerians who were always on ground ahead to receive me as the journey progresses and the free food willingly given to me by Nigerians across tribes, ethnicity and religion inclinations, i say thank you.
