Desirous to create entrepreneurship mindset in the hearts of Students, the authorities of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in partnership with University of Brunel has organized a 3-day intensive training for all Principals in the services of FCTA on entrepreneurship education curriculum in the nation’s capital.
Accordingly, the training involves a total 94 Principals of Senior Secondary Schools, which was organized by the FCT Innovation Team, aimed at providing a platform to delve into the intricacies of entrepreneurship education and explore strategies for its effective implementation within the FCT schools.
Declaring the Training opened, the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, said the theme of the training, ‘Entrepreneurship Education Curriculum,’ underscores the importance of instilling entrepreneurial skills and mindset among students from an early age.
The Mandate Secretary, who was represented by the Director, Special Duties,Hajiya Ramatu Habu, stressed that in an era characterized by rapid technological advancements and globalization, entrepreneurship education plays a pivotal role in preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
His words: “By fostering creativity, critical thinking, problems solving, and resilience, we empower our youth to become active contributors to economic growth and societal development.”
He said the Principals of schools occupy a central position in the educational ecosystem, serving as leaders, mentors, and role models to students and educators alike; adding that the commitment of Principals to excellence, innovation and inclusiveness is instrumental in creating a conducive learning environment where every student can realize their full potential.
Hayyo commended the FCT Secondary Education Board and Stakeholders, while urging the trainees to leverage on the expertise of the Brunel Trained facilitators and actively participate in the discussions and networking.
Speaking earlier, the Director / Secretary, FCT Secondary Education Board (FCT-SEB), Dr. Sani Mohammed Ladan, revealed that the training is being organized by the FCT Innovation Team that was trained at the Brunel University in the United Kingdom (UK) to promote entrepreneurship education in Nigeria.
Ladan revealed that the training among other things is aimed at empowering youths to become innovators, job creators and leaders of tomorrow; thereby, improving the socioeconomic lives of the residents of the FCT.
He, however, enjoined all the trainees to actively engage, share insights and leverage on the wealth of knowledge and expertise that esteemed facilitators bring to the table in order to actualize the aims of the training.
