The Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Abuja, said Wednesday that it had mounted surveillance on a suspected kidnappers’ den in Zones A and B of Apo-resettlement and its environs.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, added that operatives of the command combed the suspected kidnappers’ den and routes on the hills and in bushes in Apo-resettlement, Abuja, on Monday.

Adeh said, “The operatives of the FCT Police Command, led by the Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, himself, stormed the hills and thick bushes surrounding Zone A and B of Apo-resettlement and its environs on April 1, 2024, at about 11am to implement some security measures in the area, as it is perceived to be kidnappers’ routes and criminal hideouts.

“The clearance operation involved burning illegal structures and bushes surrounding the hills and the proactive deployment of police operatives for surveillance patrol, as the entry and exit routes to the hills have been adequately manned.”

The FCT has been facing heightened security threats and attacks since late 2022, as the activities of kidnappers and bandits increased in the territory.
