The FCT Police Command has issued a stern warning over an alleged plot by commercial motorcycle operators (Okada riders) to attack Task Force officials in the Kubwa area of Abuja.
In a statement signed on Thursday, July 10, 2025, by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the police confirmed they received intelligence about a planned violent protest set for Friday, July 11.
“The Command is aware of a circulating voice note on social media alleging that Okada riders are mobilizing to confront Task Force officials. Any such act will be treated as criminal and met with the full force of the law,” the statement said.
The police vowed to arrest and prosecute anyone found instigating or taking part in such an attack. It added that heavy police deployment had already been made around Kubwa as a preventive measure.
Residents were urged to stay calm and report suspicious activities via emergency lines 0803 200 3913 or 0806 158 1938.
The warning followed a viral voice message from an unidentified man who claimed he was tipped off by an Okada rider about the plot. The message suggested riders from Suleja, Dawaki, and Dutse had been mobilized for the planned assault.
By Friday morning, armed police operatives were seen stationed in key areas across Kubwa. Meanwhile, Okada riders were seen operating normally without incident.
