Former President Muhammadu Buhari was buried today in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, following Islamic rites attended by his family, government officials, political allies, and other dignitaries.
The burial took place a day after it was initially scheduled, following confirmation from his family that he passed away in a clinic in London. In response to his death, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a week of national mourning and directed that all national flags be flown at half-mast.
Buhari, who led Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, was honoured with prayers and glowing tributes from across the country and beyond, as the nation bid farewell to one of its most prominent leaders.
