President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has convened an emergency Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting for Tuesday, July 15, to honour the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a personally signed statement, Tinubu described Buhari as a “towering” figure in Nigeria’s history, whose leadership and contributions would never be forgotten.
He announced that the special FEC session will be dedicated to celebrating Buhari’s life and service to the nation.
“The Federal Government will accord President Buhari full state honours befitting his towering contributions to our country,” Tinubu stated.
As part of the national mourning, the President also directed that all flags across Nigeria be flown at half-mast for one week.
He concluded the statement with prayers for Buhari’s soul, asking God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.
