Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday hosted a distinguished group of African First Ladies in Abuja during a cultural reception held on the sidelines of the 32nd Annual General Meeting of the African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIM).

The event, which took place at the Nike Art Gallery in Abuja, brought together the First Ladies of Malawi and Gabon, the wife of the Vice President of Tanzania, and the representative of Egypt’s First Lady, among other dignitaries. The reception featured a vibrant display of Africa’s rich heritage, including traditional dance performances, an art exhibition, and a fashion showcase.

Speaking at the occasion, Senator Tinubu highlighted the significance of cultural identity as a unifying force across the continent. “Our diversity in culture, tribe, and tradition is one of our greatest strengths as a continent,” she said. “Through art and cultural expression, we can build stronger bonds of unity and understanding among African nations.”

The First Ladies were taken on a guided tour of the gallery, where they explored various artworks and interacted with local designers and artisans. The visit also served as an opportunity to promote local commerce, with guests engaging in shopping and appreciation of Nigerian craftsmanship.

The event was held in line with the broader agenda of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), which focuses on women’s leadership, child welfare, and health advocacy. Senator Tinubu has continued to use her platform to advance causes that promote the well-being of families and communities across Africa.

The reception underscored the role of culture in fostering diplomatic relations and economic cooperation, further aligning with the economic goals of the ongoing AFREXIM Bank meetings.
