Police Foil Robbery in Abuja, One Dead

A prompt response by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on Monday averted a robbery in Zone E Extension, Apo Resettlement, Abuja, following a distress call from a commercial motorcyclist who reported gunshots in the area.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, officers engaged the armed robbers in a fierce shootout. Reinforcements led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Isyaku Sharu, arrived swiftly and forced the suspects to flee into nearby hills.

A joint manhunt involving police operatives and local vigilantes is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing criminals.

During the operation, three victims with injuries were rescued, and a light green Toyota Corolla (registration number GWA 620 AU) was recovered. The victims were taken to Sahad Hospital, Apo, where one unfortunately died from injuries sustained and has been deposited at the morgue.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, extended condolences to the bereaved family and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He urged residents, particularly in the Apo axis, to report any individual with gunshot wounds or suspicious injuries, assuring them of absolute confidentiality.
