
The cost of obtaining driver’s licenses and number plates in Nigeria has officially increased, starting today, June 8, 2025.
The new price structure was approved by the Joint Tax Board (JTB) and affects motorists and tricycle operators nationwide.
According to the updated rates, a standard driver’s license for motor vehicles now costs ₦15,000 for a three-year validity and ₦21,000 for five years.
Tricycle operators will pay ₦7,000 for a three-year license and ₦11,000 for five years.
The new fees are part of ongoing efforts to standardize and improve services related to vehicle registration and licensing across the country.
