Ground Rents: I Derive Joy Stepping on Big People’s Toes — Wike
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he takes pleasure in challenging the powerful, especially when enforcing laws and recovering public funds.
Speaking on Thursday about the ongoing crackdown on ground rent defaulters in Abuja, Wike said no oneregardless of status will be spared.
“I derive joy stepping on big people’s toes when they refuse to do the right thing,” the minister said. “The law is no respecter of persons.”
Wike revealed that the FCT Administration is owed billions in unpaid ground rents, and vowed that defaulters individuals and organizations alike will face consequences, including possible revocation of land titles.
He emphasized that restoring order and accountability in land administration is a key priority under his leadership.
The minister’s remarks come amid a wider push to improve internally generated revenue and enforce compliance across the capital.
