U.S Embassy in Abuja Closes for Memorial Day

The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos have announced a temporary closure on Monday, May 26, 2025, in observance of Memorial Day, a U.S. federal holiday dedicated to honoring military personnel who lost their lives in service.

In an official statement, the U.S. Mission to Nigeria stated that all routine consular services would be suspended during the holiday. Operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

The Mission advised U.S. citizens and other individuals requiring urgent assistance to visit its official website for emergency contact details and guidance.

Memorial Day, observed annually on the last Monday of May, is a significant occasion in the United States, marked by nationwide ceremonies and tributes to honor the country’s fallen heroes.
