The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has given the green light for new construction projects in parts of Abuja, including Durumi and Mabushi districts.

This was announced by Mr. Richard Dauda, the acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), after a meeting held on Tuesday. The meeting was led by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Mr. Dauda said that one of the approved projects is the construction of access roads in Durumi, especially around the Apostolic Church. The project will include 1.7 kilometres of roads, along with drainage systems and culverts.

In Mabushi, the committee approved new roads and infrastructure, including work on Kez Udezue Street and nearby roads. This will include drainage, streetlights, water pipes, and sewage systems.

The committee also approved an emergency project to fix erosion that damaged a major water pipeline from the Lower Usuma Dam. The pipeline, which supplies water to Kubwa, Airport Road, and Gwagwalada, was at risk. A Chinese company, CGC Nigeria Ltd., will handle the repairs.

Other approvals include full renovation and equipment upgrades at the Department of State Security headquarters, and the construction of a new Magistrate Court building in Jabi.

Earlier, the Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Mr. Chidi Amadi, said the committee received 13 project proposals and approved nine of them. He said the goal is to continue improving infrastructure and living conditions across Abuja.
