The FCT Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, has successfully rescued a Chinese national who was kidnapped on April 18, 2025, in Abuja.
The victim, an employee at Panda Supermarket in Jabi, was abducted by two suspects — Abdul Rahim Imman Chindo and Ahmed Suleiman — both affiliated with Sunbelt Textile in Sharanda, Kano.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of ₦300 million and shared a disturbing video and photo of the victim on April 20.
In response, the FCT Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched an intensive operation, working closely with the victim’s family and the Chinese Embassy. On April 21, after analyzing the video, security forces identified the kidnappers’ possible location.
With support from the Air Force, a joint operation was launched, leading to the successful rescue of the victim from Kunkele Forest, near Minna Airport in Niger State.
The victim was unharmed and taken to the FCT Police Clinic for medical checkup, where he was confirmed to be in stable condition. He was later handed over to Chinese Embassy officials Mr. Jiang Haifeng and Mr. Gong Guangwei, along with his family.
The suspects are still on the run, and efforts to arrest them are ongoing.
