A 33-year-old Nigerian Army personnel, identified as Lance Corporal Yusuf Yunnusa, has been arrested by police operatives in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for attempting to sell a stolen vehicle.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the arrest via a post on his X handle on Sunday. According to Makama, the suspect, who is attached to the 82 Battalion in Rukuba, Plateau State, was apprehended around 4:30 p.m. on April 19 at Mamu Filling Station in Lambata, Kwali Area Council.
The arrest followed actionable intelligence that an individual was attempting to sell a Toyota Corolla without proper ownership documents.
“The security personnel swiftly launched a surveillance operation that resulted in Yunnusa’s arrest. A Toyota Corolla LE, with registration number ABC 570 FJ and an ash-colored exterior, was recovered from the suspect,” Makama stated.
During interrogation, Yunnusa reportedly confessed to stealing the vehicle from its parking spot at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja on April 17, 2025, around 12:00 noon.
Makama further revealed that the suspect had transported the stolen car to Kwali, intending to sell it, but was intercepted by police before the deal could be finalized.
The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation as authorities continue their investigation.
