Archbishop Kaigama Urges Nigerian Leaders to Embrace Selfless Leadership

Abuja — In his Easter message to the nation, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, has called on Nigerian leaders at all levels to embrace selflessness in their service to the people.

Speaking during an Easter Mass held at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro-Cathedral, Archbishop Kaigama emphasized that the true spirit of leadership lies in prioritizing the welfare of citizens, especially in challenging times.

He noted that the season of Easter, which celebrates sacrifice and hope, should serve as a reminder to those in positions of power that governance is a sacred trust, not a platform for personal gain.

“Our nation needs leaders who will sacrifice personal interests for the collective good. True leadership means serving others with humility, integrity, and compassion, especially the poor and vulnerable,” Kaigama said.

The Archbishop also used the opportunity to encourage Nigerians to remain resilient and hopeful, despite the current economic and social challenges facing the country. He urged citizens to support peace initiatives and pray for wisdom and courage for those entrusted with the responsibility of governance.

Kaigama’s message comes at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with inflation, insecurity, and concerns over the upcoming election cycle. His appeal echoes widespread calls for a new approach to leadership that centers on transparency, accountability, and empathy.
