3,500 Officers Deployed Across Federal Capital Territory
ABUJA – In a comprehensive security operation aimed at ensuring a peaceful Easter celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 3,500 officers throughout the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The announcement came on Wednesday from FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu, who promised maximum protection for residents and visitors during the holiday period.
“We are leaving nothing to chance. The safety of Abuja residents during this festive period is our top priority,” Dr. Odumosu stated. “Anyone found threatening public peace will be dealt with decisively.”
According to Monica Ojobi, the command’s spokesperson, elite units have been strategically positioned across the capital:
- The Counter Terrorism Squad has been deployed to high-risk areas
- The Female Strike Force will maintain security at crowded locations
- Special attention is being given to the Three Arms Zone, which houses key government buildings
- Officers will patrol worship centers, markets, shopping malls, and recreational venues
Dr. Odumosu emphasized that he would personally lead surveillance patrols throughout the territory to ensure the operation’s effectiveness.
The FCT Commandant issued stern warnings against vandalism, public indiscipline, and accidental discharge of weapons by security personnel. This zero-tolerance approach underscores the NSCDC’s commitment to maintaining order during the festivities.
Authorities are calling on the public to partner with security agencies by:

- Cooperating with security personnel
- Promptly reporting suspicious activities via emergency channels
