Federal Government Declares Easter Holidays for Good Friday and Easter Monday

The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 18th and Monday, April 21st as public holidays to mark the Good Friday and Easter Monday celebrations.

In a statement released through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to Christians nationwide on this sacred occasion and urged all Nigerians to use the holiday period as a time for prayer, focusing on the peace, unity, and stability of the nation.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of embodying the virtues demonstrated by Jesus Christ—sacrifice and love—which are central to the Easter celebration. He reminded citizens that these values remain essential for national cohesion and progress.

The Minister also reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’ which aims to foster national growth and development across all sectors of the Nigerian economy.

In his message, Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to extend love and goodwill to their neighbors through acts of kindness and generosity during this period of celebration.

The Interior Minister concluded by wishing all Christians a blissful Easter celebration and extending warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians regardless of their faith.
