The Presidency has firmly distanced itself from a wave of unauthorised 2027 campaign billboards featuring President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, which have recently surfaced across the Federal Capital Territory.
In an official statement released on Sunday, Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga expressed deep concern over the political posters and banners, clarifying that neither the President nor any government official has sanctioned or approved any re-election campaign ahead of the timeline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“The President has not authorised any campaign or approved the use of his image or that of other government officials for any political promotion regarding 2027,” Onanuga stated.
The Presidency issued a strong warning to individuals and groups responsible for the premature campaigns in Abuja, urging them to desist from further actions that could mislead the public or jeopardize the credibility of the electoral process.
Reaffirming President Tinubu’s full commitment to governance and national development, the statement assured residents of the FCT and Nigerians at large that any decisions regarding the 2027 election will be communicated at the appropriate time.
