The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation into the theft of an official Hilux vehicle belonging to the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.

The vehicle was reportedly stolen on Friday while parked outside a mosque during Juma’at prayers in the high-security area of Abuja.

Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday, noting that efforts are underway to recover the stolen vehicle and uncover the circumstances surrounding the theft.

“The FCT Police Command is fully aware of the situation and has opened a discreet investigation. Our officers are working around the clock to ensure the vehicle is recovered and those behind the act are brought to justice,” Adeh stated.

The theft of an official security vehicle in the heart of the nation’s capital has raised concerns about rising cases of car theft and general insecurity in Abuja, especially in locations previously considered safe.

Residents and security analysts have called for stronger surveillance systems and tighter security around public areas, especially during mass gatherings like Friday prayers.
