The Federal Government is set to launch a massive ₦300 billion Graduate Entrepreneurship Fund aimed at supporting Nigerian youths in starting their own businesses and pursuing self-employment opportunities.
The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during a recent event in Abuja. He emphasized that the initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to combat youth unemployment, stimulate economic growth, and promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the country.
Dr. Alausa noted that the fund will provide financial support, business training, and mentorship to graduates who have viable business ideas but lack the capital to bring them to life.
“This initiative is designed to transform the mindset of our graduates from job seekers to job creators,” Alausa said. “We want to empower Nigerian youths to pursue their dreams, build sustainable businesses, and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.”
The Graduate Entrepreneurship Fund will be implemented in collaboration with financial institutions, development partners, and entrepreneurship hubs across Nigeria. The program is expected to begin in phases, starting with a nationwide application portal that will be opened to interested graduates in the coming weeks.
