NISO Board Inaugurated in Abuja, Promises Reliable, Quality Electricity Supply
Abuja, Nigeria – April 10, 2025
The newly inaugurated board of the National Independent System Operator (NISO) has promised to tackle the persistent challenges of unreliable electricity in Nigeria, pledging to ensure a reliable and quality electricity supply for the country.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Abuja, brought together key stakeholders from Nigeria’s energy sector. The newly appointed board members are tasked with overseeing the operations of the national electricity grid, focusing on improvements in power distribution and the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid.
In his speech, the Chairman of the NISO board emphasized the importance of collaboration across the power sector. He noted that achieving a stable and efficient electricity supply would require close cooperation between power generation companies, distribution firms, and regulatory authorities.
“Our goal is to modernize the national grid, invest in critical infrastructure, and enhance service delivery across the country,” the Chairman said.
The board’s strategic plan includes upgrading the country’s transmission lines, implementing smart grid technologies, and launching nationwide awareness campaigns to educate Nigerians about energy conservation. These efforts are expected to alleviate the ongoing issues of power outages and voltage fluctuations.
By ensuring a stable power supply, NISO’s initiatives are expected to foster economic growth, enhance industrial activities, and improve the quality of life for millions of Nigerians.
The inauguration of the NISO board is seen as a crucial step in reforming Nigeria’s power sector, with hopes that these measures will lead to tangible improvements in electricity availability and reliability across the country.
