A tragic accident occurred on Monday along the busy Dutse-Bwari Road in the Federal Capital Territory. A trailer carrying sacks of onions and pepper lost control and killed at least three people at the Tipper Garage Junction.

The crash happened around 11:55 a.m. and left several others injured. The incident caused panic in the area and drew immediate attention from residents.

Eyewitnesses said the trailer was coming down from Bwari town when it experienced brake failure near the Usuman Dam.

Ismaila Hussein, a clothing vendor at the junction, described the scene.

“I was on the phone with a customer when I heard loud honking,” he said. “The trailer was speeding downhill, out of control. It hit a Prado Jeep, which then crashed into a Keke NAPEP and a bystander. The person was crushed and died instantly.”

Two passengers inside the trailer also died on the spot, bringing the total death toll to three. Many others sustained injuries, prompting a swift emergency response.

Mrs. Glory Emeka, a nearby POS operator, called on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to take urgent action.

“We live in fear every time we cross this road,” she said. “Trailers keep losing control here. The minister must act now before more lives are lost.”

Officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps and Nigeria Police have evacuated the deceased to the morgue. The injured were taken to the hospital for urgent treatment.

This accident has reignited concerns over road safety in the area. Residents are calling for immediate intervention to prevent more tragedies.
