Abuja, Nigeria – April 7, 2025
The Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement is set to lead a nationwide protest across major cities in Nigeria today, April 7, 2025, as citizens express mounting frustration over the country’s worsening economic conditions, insecurity, and alleged government mismanagement.
According to the organizers, the protest aims to draw urgent attention to rising food prices, unemployment, fuel scarcity, and growing insecurity across various regions. Demonstrators are expected to gather in key locations including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano, holding placards and demanding meaningful reforms.
“We cannot continue to suffer in silence while the country collapses around us,” said Fatima Oladele, a spokesperson for the TIB Movement. “This protest is a call for responsible governance, economic justice, and security for all Nigerians.”
Despite receiving warnings from the Nigeria Police Force to shelve the demonstration—citing concerns about the timing, especially as the country marks National Police Day—TIB organizers have reaffirmed their commitment to proceed peacefully, emphasizing their constitutional right to protest.
Law enforcement agencies have reportedly been placed on high alert nationwide, with security personnel deployed to monitor potential flashpoints and maintain order.
The protest is expected to attract widespread attention, with civil society groups, student unions, labor activists, and ordinary citizens showing support. Political analysts believe the planned action may signal a new wave of civic engagement among Nigeria’s youth and working class.
As Nigerians await the turnout, the message from the streets is already loud and clear: the people are ready to take a stand for a better future.
