Abuja, Nigeria – March 12, 2025

The village head of Dnako in Bwari Area Council, HRH Etsu Yuda Garba, has been abducted along with two of his grandchildren and five other residents of the community.

According to a resident, Mr. Tanko Baba, the armed kidnappers stormed the village around 12:03 am on Tuesday, launching a coordinated attack. The abducted grandchildren were identified as Ephraim and Philemon.

Baba recounted that the attackers, wielding AK-47 rifles, initially raided four houses, seizing five individuals before advancing to the residence of the traditional ruler. Some of the assailants, disguised in military uniforms, forcefully entered the home, capturing the village head and his sleeping grandchildren amid sporadic gunfire.

One of the victims, Nicholas, had just returned from the hospital, where his wife had given birth, when he ran into the kidnappers.

“Mr. Nicholas, who is my cousin, had just returned from the hospital when he encountered the kidnappers,” Baba told Daily Trust.

The attackers fled with the victims before security forces could respond. Although soldiers later arrived at the scene, Baba noted that efforts were still ongoing to track down the kidnappers. Witnesses reported that the assailants operated for nearly 30 minutes, firing shots as they escaped, likely to deter pursuit.

A police source in Bwari confirmed the abduction but advised further inquiries be directed to the command. Security agencies are now working to locate and rescue the kidnapped individuals.

This is a developing story. More updates to follow.
