
No fewer than 187 Vice Principals Academics of FCT Secondary Schools and other stakeholders in the education system in the territory are receiving strategic training on innovation and entrepreneurship education.
Declaring the training open yesterday, at the Nigeria Building And Road Research Institute (NBBRI), Abuja, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, FCTA Secretary For Education, said the initiative is a strategic intervention aimed at equipping educators with the skills, knowledge, and leadership capacity needed to nurture a generation of problem-solvers, innovators, and job creators.
Hayyo noted that as instructional leaders and key drivers of school management, Vice Principals Academics play an essential role in ensuring that entrepreneurship education is not just a subject, but a culture embedded in teaching and learning
He revealed that the participants will engage in insightful and hands-on sessions designed to provide you with the frameworks, tools, and leadership strategies to drive entrepreneurship education in their schools.
According to him, some of the key areas of focus include: understanding entrepreneurship education, leadership for entrepreneurship, curriculum development and oversight stakeholder engagement, resource mobilization, assessment and continuous improvement
“This training is a call to action, and I trust that you will take the lessons learned here and translate them into impactful changes in your schools.
“It is our responsibility as educators and administrators to ensure that our schools do not just prepare students for jobs but empower them to shape the future through entrepreneurship and innovation.
“We must take deliberate and strategic steps to ensure that our education system aligns with this global shift.
If we succeed in making entrepreneurship education a standard practice in our schools, we will have succeeded in preparing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and nation-builders”, he stated.
Earlier, while presenting an overview of innovation and entrepreneurship education activities in the FCT, especially in light of the trainings received by the FCT-BRUNEL Innovation Team, Director/Secretary, Fct Secondary Education Board (SEB), Dr. Mohammed Sani Ladan, have significantly enriched its knowledge base in innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and technology-driven entrepreneurship solutions.
Ladan said they have integrated entrepreneurship education into our curriculum, equipping students with practical skills, critical thinking abilities, and a problem-solving mindset.
He opined that selected secondary schools now have innovation and entrepreneurship clubs, where students engage in practical business simulations, product development, and financial literacy exercises.
