FCTA Approves ₦36.5bn for Magistrate Courts, Sports Centers and Infrastructure
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved ₦36.5 billion for various development projects across Abuja and its satellite towns.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Mr. Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, outlined the budget allocations as follows:
- ₦19.6 billion for the construction of multi-purpose sports centres.
- ₦13.9 billion for two new magistrate courts in Asokoro and Garki Districts.
- ₦3 billion for a 33KV power supply and solar-powered street lighting in Dawaki, Bwari, and surrounding areas.
The sports complexes will be built in Area 3 and Area 10, Garki District, under Lot A, awarded to Earthgain Energy and Environmental Services Ltd for ₦9.9 billion. Meanwhile, Lot B in Kafe District has been awarded to Tegwa-Tegwa Nigeria Ltd for ₦9.7 billion. Both projects are expected to be completed within 12 months.
The new magistrate courts, aimed at improving access to justice in the FCT, will cost ₦7.6 billion and ₦6.3 billion, respectively. The Asokoro court is scheduled for completion in 15 months, while the Garki court will take 18 months.
Additionally, a ₦3 billion contract for a 33KV power supply and solar-powered street lights along Arab Road and U-Shape Road has been awarded to CGC Nigeria Ltd, with a completion timeline of six months.
Zulkiflu emphasized that these projects are part of the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, security, and public services in the Federal Capital Territory.
