The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of Abaji Area Council of the administration’s commitment to delivering additional road projects in the area. He disclosed that funds for these projects have been earmarked in the FCT Administration’s 2025 budget to ensure timely execution.
Wike pledged during the inauguration of the five-kilometre Naharati–River Ukya–Uguwan Hausawa access road in Abaji, a community within the Abaji Area Council of the FCT. He stated that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for the balanced development of both Abuja City and its satellite towns.
He said, “I have consistently emphasized that while we are developing the city, we are equally committed to developing the satellite towns. “This week, from today until Friday, has been dedicated to inaugurating projects across the six area councils,” he added.
The minister assured the residents of Abaji of an additional road project, noting that funds have already been allocated for this in the FCT Administration’s 2025 budget. He explained that the construction of the Naharati–River Ukya–Uguwan Hausawa access road was a fulfilment of a promise made to Abaji residents in late 2023.
Additionally, he revealed that two new police divisions, requested to enhance security in Abaji, would be completed and inaugurated within a few months. The minister also highlighted ongoing construction at the FCT University of Science and Technology, Abaji, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to the people.
He thanked the Abaji Traditional Council for conferring on him the traditional title of “Hasken Abaji,” meaning “The Light of Abaji.” Dedicating the title to Tinubu, the minister described the President as the “light of Nigeria” due to his life-impacting programs and people-oriented projects.
