The newly appointed Coordinator of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, (AMMC), Chief Felix Obuah, has called for solutions to the prevailing electricity supply challenges and load shedding in the Federal Capital City, Abuja.
The Coordinator made the call while receiving a team of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) officials that visited his office, in AMMC Headquarters, Zone 6, Wuse I District, Abuja.
Obuah, who appreciated the visit called immediate solution to the prevailing electricity supply challenges in the Federal Capital Territory, especially the Streetlights across the Abuja metropolis.
He insisted that streetlights should be on all night, considering the security challenges in the country.
The Coordinator lamented that the bizarre cases of load shedding should not affect street lights at all at night, as total darkness will encourage night marauders to carry out their niferous activities.
Speaking earlier, Engineer Elesha Y.A, who led the officials of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on the visit, said they were in AMMC to discuss the prevailing electricity challenges in the FCC as it regards constant vandalization of street lights, load shedding and electrical installations.
Meanwhile, the Director, Facility Maintenance and Management, Engineer Felix Nwankwo, on his part, advised that load shedding should be done only in the afternoon in order to avoid total blackouts at night as lack of supply to the streetlights throw the city into darkness; thereby encouraging nocturnal activities by men of the underworld that take advantage of such unfortunate circumstances.
