The Federal Capital Territory College of Education, Zuba, has held its first Science Fair, with a call for greater investment in science and technology to shape Nigeria’s future.

House Committee Chairman on Colleges of Education, Hon. Adamu Tanko, urged the government and stakeholders to back innovation with real resources instead of promises. He warned that Nigeria’s reliance on foreign technology will persist without stronger support for local institutions.

Representing the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Victor Fadipe stressed inclusivity, saying innovation should not be limited by formal education.

Provost of the College, Dr. Sule Mundi, said the fair connects classroom learning with practical solutions, while Dean of Sciences, Dr. Lauratu Kurawa, called for support to sustain it as an annual event.

In the competitions, GSTC Garki won first place in the secondary school category, while the Biology Department led in the college category. Guests later toured students’ creative projects and prototypes, which highlighted the potential of young Nigerian innovators.
