Retirees Celebrated as FCT College Zuba Inaugurates Deans

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) College of Education, Zuba, has honoured its retirees and inaugurated newly appointed deans, directors, heads of departments, and committee members during its historic welfare ceremony. The event was marked by gratitude, reflection, and renewed commitment to progress within the college community.

In his keynote address, the College Provost, Dr Sule Mundi, praised the retirees for their dedicated service and assured them that their legacies would always be remembered. He also appreciated the contributions of outgoing and current management staff for their reliability and support.

Chairperson of the Staff Welfare and Award Committee, Mrs Theresa Ajaidu, welcomed participants and described the ceremony as the second of its kind. She commended the Provost for ensuring the event’s success despite limited resources and wished the new appointees success in their leadership roles.

Highlighting Dr Mundi’s achievements in two years of leadership as Deputy Director (Mechanical), Works and Maintenance Department, Engr. Aliyu Umar Bologi listed several key projects:

  • A modern gatehouse, 3km perimeter fence, and 2.2km access road.
  • Renovation of classrooms, the administrative block, and the fire-damaged female hostel.
  • Installation of a hybrid solar system and 300 streetlights for improved security and power supply.
  • Construction of a 600-seat CBT Centre and an ongoing 650-seat auditorium.
  • Establishment of an Entrepreneurship Centre and the College’s first Science Fair.
  • Recruitment of 228 staff, salary improvements, clearance of promotion arrears, and accreditation of 28 programmes.
  • Academic partnerships with Ahmadu Bello University, University of Maiduguri, and Federal University, Lokoja.
  • Nine new study centres in Niger and Kaduna States to expand access and revenue generation.

He noted that the Provost’s administration has successfully combined infrastructure growth with human capital development, positioning the College as a hub of innovation and academic excellence.

The event featured the presentation of awards, cash gifts to retirees, and the official inauguration of new appointees.
