A brewing clash between herders and churchgoers in Paso community, Gwagwalada Area Council, was averted after the village chief swiftly stepped in.
The confrontation began when herders, moving their cattle to a nearby pond, met resistance at a barricade reportedly put up by church members. Tempers flared as the herders attempted to force their way through.
An aide to the chief, Danjuma Yakubu, said the traditional ruler immediately dispatched him to the scene before summoning both groups to the palace for dialogue. “The matter was resolved peacefully under the chief’s guidance,” he said.
Confirming the development, FCT Miyetti Allah spokesman, Ahmed Dahiru, explained that the barricade had blocked a route long used by both villagers and herders. He said the chief has ordered its removal within two days to forestall any crisis.
Security agents also visited the scene and pledged to enforce the directive, assuring residents that calm had been restored.
