Lecturers at the University of Abuja on Monday joined the nationwide protest organized by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to press for the payment of outstanding entitlements and implementation of long-standing agreements with the Federal Government.
The protesting academics listed withheld salaries, unpaid wage arrears, and delays in the renegotiated agreement as key grievances.
They argued that the government’s failure to act has deepened hardship for university staff and worsened conditions in public institutions.
ASUU leaders at the demonstration urged the authorities to address the demands urgently, warning that the continued neglect of lecturers’ welfare would have severe consequences for Nigeria’s higher education system.
