The Federal Capital Territory Administration has begun clearing illegal developments blocking routes reserved for Abuja’s rail and road infrastructure.
Through its Development Control Department, the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) has started sensitisation in communities including Kukwaba, Ruga, Dei-Dei, Kuchingoro, and Gwagwa.
Marked structures will be pulled down before the Abuja rail line enters its test phase on March 13, 2026.
AMMC Coordinator Umar Shuaibu stated that the exercise was necessary to safeguard the city’s master plan, emphasizing that land-use violations would no longer be tolerated.
He pledged that the operation would be carried out responsibly, clarifying that only natives are entitled to either compensation or relocation benefits.
