In response to recent outbreaks of violence, Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri, Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, held an urgent security meeting on Friday aimed at curbing rising tensions within the council.
The high-level meeting, held behind closed doors at the council secretariat, brought together senior security personnel, traditional authorities, community elders, and youth delegates to discuss ways to restore calm and maintain stability.
Reports suggest that the unrest stemmed from confrontations between rival youth factions, which led to multiple injuries and destruction of property in several neighborhoods.
Chairman Giri assured the public that security patrols would be intensified across the affected areas and emphasized the council’s zero-tolerance approach to threats against peace and order.
Traditional rulers who attended the session appealed to young people to avoid violence and instead engage in peaceful dialogue to resolve their differences.
Security forces have since been deployed to identified tension spots to enforce calm, as investigations continue to determine the root of the conflict.
The public has been urged to stay law-abiding and promptly report suspicious behavior to the appropriate authorities.
