The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) is conducting its annual Search and Rescue Simulation Exercise today at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, aimed at evaluating the country’s emergency response capabilities.

The simulation is designed to test Nigeria’s preparedness in handling airspace crises, improve coordination among relevant agencies, and ensure conformity with international aviation safety standards.

A stakeholders’ briefing was held yesterday in preparation for the exercise, featuring key aviation and emergency response bodies such as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, and Nigerian Meteorological Agency. Each agency gave updates on its preparedness and shared operational assessments.

Also present were the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Nigerian Air Force, National Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Medical Center Jabi, Federal Road Safety Corps, Skyway Aviation Handling Company, representatives from Air Peace and Max Air, as well as local community leaders.

The joint exercise plays a crucial role in building a professional, timely, and unified response system for actual aviation emergencies across Nigeria.
