The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has set up a special panel to investigate widespread irregularities in the sale of Federal Government-owned houses in Abuja. The move is aimed at cleaning up the system and restoring integrity to the housing allocation process.
Chijioke Nwankwoeze, Director of Land Administration, revealed that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike gave direct approval for the establishment of the vetting panel. He also disclosed the creation of another committee to handle titling for park lands and other related plots, to improve land administration.
During the committee inauguration, Nwankwoeze emphasized that both groups have been given strict mandates and deadlines to carry out their duties. He said the effort is part of ongoing reforms to realign with the original 2003–2005 housing monetization policy and to build public confidence in the system.
He further highlighted the FCT Minister’s strong political will and said the reforms are aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to bring transparency, efficiency, and order to land and housing management in the capital.
