AMAC Chairman Condemns Karsana II Demolition, Seeks Federal Help

The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has condemned the recent demolition of homes in Karsana II, calling it illegal, inhumane, and a violation of indigenous residents’ rights.

After visiting the affected community on Saturday, Maikalangu accused a developer, allegedly linked to Oceanic Properties and Equilibrium Concept, of executing the demolition without notice, compensation, or a court order.

He said Karsana II is an ancestral community, not a squatter settlement, and stressed that residents were not notified before their homes were destroyed.

He appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to intervene and urged the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to assist displaced families.

Maikalangu promised to seek justice in court and hold the developer accountable.

The Karsana Youth Secretary, Dikko Jezhi, also condemned the demolition, describing it as shocking and unjust. He warned that continued neglect could lead to growing unrest among the youth.

The demolition affected several homes, churches, and even the palace of the community chief.
