The Federal Government has ordered immediate reforms at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, Abuja, following public outrage over a viral video showing accident victims allegedly neglected by hospital staff.

Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Salako, gave the directive during an unscheduled visit on Sunday, calling for more casualty officers per shift and integration of newly hired health assistants into clinical duties.

He urged staff to prioritize timely and compassionate care, warning that one mistake can damage public trust.

Dr. Timothy Sama’ila, head of the emergency unit, admitted the hospital is overwhelmed by space and staffing issues. The government also plans to roll out a national emergency care training programme to improve response in public hospitals.
