The Nigerian Armed Forces has launched a modern Command and Operations Centre in Abuja to strengthen national security and improve coordination among its military branches.

The new facility, commissioned on Tuesday, is designed to serve as a central hub for planning, intelligence gathering, and real-time response to security threats. It comes equipped with advanced communication systems, surveillance tools, and digital infrastructure to support joint military operations.

According to Defence Headquarters, the centre will improve how the Army, Navy, and Air Force share information and respond to emergencies, including insurgency, banditry, and other internal threats.

Officials say the centre will also support military training and simulations, helping commanders test strategies and sharpen their readiness before deployment.

“This is a major step forward in improving how we respond to security challenges across the country,” a top military official said at the event.

The centre is expected to become fully operational in the coming weeks, with regular joint exercises and improved inter-agency collaboration planned.
