FCT School Shines Globally, Wins 2nd Place in African Tech Challenge

The Mandate Secretary for Education in the FCT Administration, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, has praised students of Government Science Secondary School, Maitama/Pyakasa, for winning second place in the 2025 Open African Countries (OAC) Tech Experts Competition.

During a courtesy visit on June 19, Dr. Hayyo celebrated the students’ achievement, describing it as a reflection of the FCTA’s commitment to quality education and youth development. He encouraged the students to continue representing the FCT and Nigeria with pride.

He also assured them of the FCTA’s support for their upcoming trip to South Africa for the next edition of the competition, adding that FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike would be briefed on the need to sponsor the team.

“We are proud of you, and we believe with more support, you’ll achieve even greater things,” Dr. Hayyo said.

The school principal, Isah Usman, officially presented the awards to the Mandate Secretary and applauded the students’ creativity, hard work, and resilience.

The winning team includes Oyewuchi Treasure Chima, Osaka Kosisochukwu Praise, Fidelis Shiloh Yusuf, Ikediashi Immanuella Hayenoseh, and Okechukwu Nmesoma Victory.

Also present at the event were the Permanent Secretary for Education, Joy Okeke, and Director of Science, Technology Innovation, Olobashola Kolawole.

This victory adds to FCT’s growing reputation for excellence in global science and technology education
