Abuja – June 11, 2025
The National Assembly is considering a bill to relocate presidential inauguration ceremonies from Eagle Square to the Parliament Complex.
Lawmakers say the move aligns with global democratic practices and reinforces the legislature’s symbolic role.
The bill also seeks to institutionalize an annual State-of-the-Nation Address every June 12, making it a core part of Democracy Day celebrations.
If passed, the president will address Nigerians yearly on national progress and policy direction.
Originally proposed in 2016, the renewed bill reflects growing support for democratic reforms within the legislative process
