Severe gully erosion in Unguwar Abattoir, Abaji Area Council, has expanded to nearby communities, with at least six houses now affected in Unguwar Rafin Sahara.
Residents warn that more structures face destruction during the ongoing rainy season due to inadequate drainage systems. “Heavy rainfall sends water directly into our compounds because there’s no proper drainage or culvert,” one resident explained.

In Unguwar Abattoir, families have abandoned their homes after erosion made them uninhabitable. Some residents have lost entire buildings to the expanding gullies.
Despite sending multiple letters and hosting visits from area council officials, residents say they have received only promises without concrete action.

Community leaders are now warning that the erosion may soon cut off vital access roads, potentially isolating parts of the area if immediate intervention is not taken.
