The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that Abuja remains the safest city in Nigeria, especially as security agencies step up efforts to ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In his 2025 Eid message, Wike said the FCT Administration is working closely with security agencies to maintain peace and order.

“I am proud to say that Abuja remains the safest city in the country, and we are doing everything possible to keep it that way,” he stated.

He also addressed concerns about a recent explosion in the city, clarifying that it was an industrial accident and not linked to terrorism.

“Investigations confirmed it was not a terrorist attack. Safety measures are being strengthened to avoid such incidents in the future,” he added.

Wike highlighted the ongoing development across the FCT, crediting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support for the progress. He revealed that several completed projects in health, education, agriculture, and transportation will soon be commissioned.

He encouraged residents to pray for the President’s continued strength and wisdom, saying the Renewed Hope Agenda is already making a positive impact.

Wike also extended warm greetings to Muslims and all residents, describing Eid-el-Kabir as a time for reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to unity and development.

“Let the spirit of Eid inspire kindness, peace, and support for one another—especially the less privileged,” he said.

He praised the Muslim community for promoting peaceful coexistence in the FCT and emphasized the importance of unity in achieving national progress.
