The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a major power outage across several parts of the Federal Capital Territory due to a technical fault affecting key feeders.
In a statement on Saturday, AEDC identified the impacted areas to include Efab Classic Estate, Metro City Estate, Trademore Estate, Choos Estate, Sunnyvale Estate, Maxcare Plaza, Faith Plaza, Erifu Estate, and Earthpoint Estate.
Other affected locations include Brains and Hammers (Phases 1, 2, and 4), Hunters Garden, Ecofitness, Airport, NJI, NARSDA, NABDA, Lugbe Shoprite, Riverpark Estate, War College, Dunamis, NIGCOMSAT, Passo and Paiko Villages, Dobi Community, SHEDA Complex, Kwali Town, WaterBoard, and Abaji Town.
Also listed were Gishiri, Mabushi, Kadokuchi, Navy Estate, Anan House, Jahi Village, NAF Conference Centre, Lake View Phase 182, Custom Quarters, Dakibiu, Today Estate, parts of Dape District, Katsina Estate, Paradise Estate, Ochacho Estate, Kafe District, America Embassy Estate, and sections of Gwarinpa and surrounding areas.
AEDC assured residents that engineers are currently working to fix the fault and restore electricity as soon as possible.
This development adds to recent power disruptions across the FCT. In April, a system failure led to blackouts in multiple communities, while in January, supply was interrupted due to the relocation of transmission towers. In December 2024, routine maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria also caused temporary outages.
