Nigeria – June 4, 2025
The Federal Government has announced plans to train 100,000 artisans nationwide in 2025 under a new initiative called “Skill Up Artisan Super.”
Unveiled by Dr. Oluwatoyin Ogun, Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the programme aims to professionalize skilled trades, curb quackery, and align local artisans with global standards.
“This is the first time artisans are receiving this level of government support,” said Dr. Ogun. “We want to improve the quality, dignity, and global competitiveness of skilled work in Nigeria.”
The initiative builds on last year’s success, where 29,000 unskilled Nigerians were trained and certified.
ASNAT Coordinator, Mr. Adeshina Akinyemi, praised the move, calling it a “timely and transformative step” toward economic growth and job creation.
