FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has ordered the immediate installation of streetlights on the newly completed Apo to Wassa road, a project left unattended for nearly a decade.

During a site tour on Thursday, Wike explained that the original contractawarded over 10 years ago did not include street lighting, a gap he said was overlooked by previous administrations.

“Though we didn’t initiate this project, President Tinubu is committed to finishing all abandoned works. That’s why I’ve instructed that streetlights be installed,” Wike said.

He confirmed that CGC, the construction firm handling the road, has submitted a proposal for the streetlight installation.

Wike said the move would improve safety and enhance night-time security for commuters along the corridor.

He also inspected the Kubwa Interchange and Daki Biyu road projects, which he said are nearing completion and set for commissioning in June.

“The quality of work here is commendable. Abuja residents deserve excellence, and that’s exactly what President Tinubu is delivering,” the minister added.
